Last week I had the privilege of working with thee amazing photographer and friend, Alexis Ramos along side make up artist Lynet Ramos. Alexis contacted me a couple weeks back about this shoot and I immediately could not contain my excitement! We worked together a couple years ago and I fell in love with her style of photography. So last Wednesday, I woke up at 6:30 am to get into hair and makeup (which I was way too excited for I could not sleep!) Our location was chosen by the photographer on an old and abandoned dirt road in the beautiful Countryside of Florida. The look was also inspired by Alexis as she invisioned a wide leg trouser, thick eyeliner, and natural wavy hair.
I had so much fun doing this shoot and I couldn't wait to blog about it! I could hardly walk on the dirt road with the shoes I had on (being a woman is so hard, lol) I almost ended up with a twisted ankle! We couldn't stop laughing, I had to keep reminding myself to stay professional. Oh, and lets not forget how happy I was because of how tall I looked :-) All in all, I had a terrific experience being able to not only work with some dear friends, but also having the opportunity to bond with them. On my blog, I want to make sure to shine the light on those who impact my life in some way. Whether I know them or not, whether they know it or not. I want my readers to share with me my experiences and just how beautiful and talented people really are, so I interviewed both of these ladies, check it out and if you ever need a photographer or a make up artist, hire these lovely women!
Questions by EKS-
EKS- Where does your inspiration come from?
Alexis Ramos- I usually find my inspiration from all places. It can be the tiniest of things in a photo or something around me and it will spark an idea or image that I want to create. It ranges from anything! To another photo or something in the media, or even a simple color palette.
EKS- Why did you want to become a photographer?
AR- I first got into photography through school. I had always loved taking pictures but it was my experience with a DSLR and it was as if a new world opened up! I started experimenting with lenses, different lighting, different styles of photography and more! I was inspired by what I could create and how I could make people feel about a photo.
EKS- What do you love most about your job?
AR- What I love most is creating beautiful imagery. I love creating a story through my photos and being able share the passion and love I feel about a particular photo or session. It's a great feeling to love your own work and be inspired to keep going and pushing the envelope.
EKS- Tell me your best/favorite experience.
AR- One of my favorite experiences was actually my sisters engagement session. She looked amazing ( makeup done by the talented Lynet Ramos). We went to a beautiful "woodsy" site that I had never been to before and it was my first shoot with a vintage theme. I had so much fun that I didn't even feel like I was working. I want all my sessions to feel the same way, tons of fun, beautiful people and locations and a gorgeous outcome!

EKS- When did you realize that you wanted to do make up for a living?
Lynet Ramos- Well, I always used to color a lot and I loved blending colors together and shading. So when my mother introduced me to make up, I would secretly try to act like I knew what I was doing. Surprisingly, the outcome actually wasn't bad! Lol. As I played around with her makeup I realized that I loved doing this. I eventually started asking my friends if I could do their makeup and I then knew that I was completely passionate about it. I needed to pursue it!
EKS- Where do you see yourself in your career?
LR- I see myself working freelance as long as I can and also working for the community, maybe local fashion shows. If I can just continue working in this field, I don't care where it takes me. I. Ready, it's my passion.
EKS- Name one of your best experiences as an artist.
LR- One of my best experiences would have to be when I was working on one of my clients that was really down and insecure because she had mature skin. She didn't see the beauty that I saw. She had beautiful eyes and a great smile but it was all masked by sadness. After I was finished, she took one look in the mirror and was hesitant at first but after getting ready and doing her hair, she burst into tears (which was not ok with me, lol) because she never thought her face could look like it did. Her husband surely couldn't keep his hands off of her ;-)
EKS- And lastly, what type of music inspires you?
LR- Um, I wouldn't say that there is a specific type of music, but there many! Music brings me to a place of thought that transforms me. If I pop on some Beyonce, I'm ready to make you a diva, lol. Then maybe kick it back to Ella Fitzgerald and I'm inspired to work on my vintage classic beauty. The list can go on and on! I think all genres of music can inspire me in many ways to do all kinds of work.
